On Wednesday, Minister of State Serge Telle, in the presence of the relevant authorities, received staff members who had passed the Monegasque Professional Certification introduced by the Prince’s Government at the initiative of the Monaco Association for Financial Activities (AMAF).
This obligatory certification, which came into force on 2 May 2014, aims to improve the competency level of those working in Monegasque banks and management companies, and to strengthen the industry’s reputation for excellence. It is a professional certification aimed at all front-office staff, in other words those who deal with customers or the markets and their direct supervisors.
In his speech, Serge Telle paid tribute to the newly certified employees, stressing that “setting out to combine money and virtue also goes far beyond fiscal transparency agreements. It means making a commitment to healthy, balanced, sustainable growth. That is why we need you, your talent, your high standards and your energy to bring these two things, money and virtue, together”.
The Minister of State also congratulated the AMAF “on its important work, particularly in regulating and organising the financial professions, which guarantee excellence and legitimacy, in promoting the Monegasque financial sector, especially on the international stage, and in incentivising competent professionals.”
“This was the will of the Sovereign Prince, which the Principality of Monaco has made a reality,” stressed the Minister of State, adding that today “Monaco is no longer on any black or grey lists of uncooperative countries when it comes to tax issues.”
