Luncheon Conference of Monaco Association of Financial Activities (AMAF), 20 February 2013

2013-02-27

For the first AMAF luncheon conference of 2013, the President, Mr. Etienne Franzi, invited Mrs. Danièle Nouy, Secretary General of the Prudential Control Authority (ACP), to address an audience of more than one hundred AMAF members, accountants and insurers on the theme The Evolution of Banking Regulation and Supervision.

The event was honoured by the presence of His Excellency the Minister of State, His Excellency the French Ambassador to Monaco, and the Government Advisor for Finance and Economics,  as well as the presidents of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Monaco Chamber of Insurers.

During her speech, Mrs. D. Nouy firstly detailed the draft bill for separation and regulation of banking activities, currently under approval in France. In addition to discussing the new powers conferred on the ACP – which would become the Prudential Control and Resolution Authority (ACPR) – by the introduction of a ‘resolution’ plan for bank and investment firm crises, the potential impact of these terms on Monaco’s banks was also discussed.

In conclusion, our guest – whose name is very often mentioned regarding the presidency of the future supervisory board of the European Central Bank (ECB) – explained the manners of implementation of the European Banking Union plan, as well as the bank supervision responsibilities which should be assigned to this body.
