In partnership with Cabinet Gordon Blair & Cie and Monaco for Finance, the Monaco Economic Development Chamber organised a breakfast event at the Baur au Lac Hotel in Zurich on 28 February.
A diversified gathering of bankers surrounded the Monegasque Consul, Mrs. Hélène Faggionato, making an attentive audience. Among them were the Chairman and CEO of Nomura Bank Switzerland, as well as representatives of EFG Bank, Neuehelvetische Bank and Kaiser Partner PrivatBank Liechtenstein, among others. Several fund managers, lawyers and fiduciaries also attended the breakfast.
Following a film presentation of the Principality, many topics were addressed by Cabinet Gordon Blair and representatives Christophe Kosman, Edouard-Jean Curtet and Jérôme Brimaud: taxation, family offices, real estate investment in Monaco, trusts, and - of course – how to become resident in the Principality.
Then Mr. Bernard Rousselot, the President of Monaco for Finance, described the features and benefits of the Monaco financial centre before inviting questions.
There were many of these, on banking secrecy in Monaco, the possibility of a future European passport, the reality of trusts in the Principality, and the question of beneficiaries etc.
In summary, it was a lively meeting with productive exchanges, thanks especially to the support of Dr. Anton Greber, the local partner of Cabinet Gordon Blair in Zurich. Confirmation of the usefulness of this type of event came in particular in the form of the request for a similar event to be held soon in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.
