MONTERRA is dedicated to implementing an innovative, tailor-made approach to wealth management. Founded in 2018, this Monegasque financial advisory company, 100% owned by its founders, meets the expectations of an ultra-demanding Monegasque and international clientele.
Are you a pure financial product?
I actually started out as an equity analyst in Monaco, before moving to Paris to acquire more knowledge. My idea was always to be able to come back to the Principality with a wealth of experience.
In Paris, I joined the Indosuez group, where I worked for 3 years, in particular in charge of large private clients.
I then joined Amundi, where I spent seven years managing a diversified offering for LCL's private banking clients.
At the time, I was supervising investment funds with assets totalling over €7 billion.
In 2013, the opportunity arose to return to Monaco to work for a major Monaco bank.
Finally, in 2018, together with Xavier Midorge, Nicolas Traineau and Jérémy Perrot, we decided to launch our own management company, MONTERRA.
For what purpose?
We wanted to create an independent management company that would offer a tailor-made approach and maximum flexibility to meet our clients' needs.
Our choices are guided by the search for high-performance solutions and are not constrained by a centralised commercial policy or the vision of a chief economist, however prestigious.
What is MONTERRA's DNA?
We define ourselves as "artisans of financial luxury".
The term 'artisan' is important to us because, like them, we advocate expertise, excellence and tailor-made service.
The performance of our clients' investments is obviously at the heart of our concerns.
Finally, our independence is fundamental.
In particular, it enables us to seek the opinion of the best specialists in each class of financial assets, to negotiate the best possible pricing for transactions, and to ensure the consolidated monitoring of assets deposited with several banks or insurance companies.
What about your international development?
We are focusing on 2 main areas.
The Middle East, where we are fortunate to have an International Development Director seconded to the region with extensive experience in this area.
We also have extensive experience with French-speaking clients in mainland France and abroad.
Nevertheless, you have chosen to establish MONTERRA's registered office in Monaco.
Monaco may be a popular tourist destination, but it is above all a place to live and an organised, modern financial centre.
It is a land of innovation, where unlisted finance (club deals, private equity, etc.) and sustainable finance are central concerns.
You recently attended the Super Investor Event. Why is this private equity event important for MONTERRA?
This is a major event for those involved in private asset management. It's a unique conference because it brings together different profiles in private finance: asset managers, institutional investors, as well as data providers and financial product distribution platforms. This diversity is rare, and it gives us a privileged opportunity to exchange views with all the key players in this asset class.
In practical terms, what are the advantages for MONTERRA of taking part?
It is essential that we are able to keep in constant touch with the latest innovations and trends in our sector. For example, SuperInvestor gives us access to distribution platforms that play a central role in putting us in touch with private finance clients. By taking part, we can discover investment solutions that are still little known, and even anticipate regulatory developments or opportunities that are emerging in the field of private assets.
What's more, the conference attracts professionals from all over the world, including the United States and the major European financial centres. This gives us the opportunity to meet experts and decision-makers who we would only be able to meet if we travelled to several continents, which saves us a great deal of time and makes us more efficient.
Finally, hosting this event in Monaco gives the financial centre greater visibility and strengthens our appeal as a centre of expertise in private asset management. It's an opportunity to introduce Monaco to players who may not yet have had a complete picture of it, and who may come back with the idea of developing business relationships here.
What was the highlight of the conference?
Yes, the presence of Thierry Henry, a football legend and former AS Monaco player. He came to share his experience of life after football and his approach to investment. He spoke about his transition to wealth management and his investment choices, providing an inspiring insight into how a top sportsman can approach the world of finance. This type of testimonial adds a human dimension to the conference, in addition to the exchanges with high-level professionals.
