The results are just in for the 1st intake of the Bachelor of Business Administration, Monaco Banking & Financial Services option, whose the new formula was introduced in September 2016: 12 out of 14 students passed. This particularly satisfactory outcome encourages the partners to repeat this formula in autumn term 2017. So, 13 candidates from around 20 applications have already been accepted for the coming intake.
The students’ success was welcomed by Mr. Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Health and Social Affairs. He made a point of closing the academic year with the different training stakeholders, particularly the Department of Employment, representatives of Monaco Association for Financial Activities (AMAF), many professionals, and Jean-Philippe Muller, General Director of the International University of Monaco (IUM), the course’s educational manager.
This Bachelor’s degree is the only vocational training banking qualification specific to Monaco. Equivalent to a 3 year bachelor’s degree, it comprises a one year sandwich course. With part of its teaching content developed by professionals, this new formula qualification responds to the needs and issues of Monaco’s banking sector. It addresses a real jobs market need and is primarily aimed at Monegasques, Monaco residents and young people of neighbouring towns.
The young graduates are operational straight away. Ten banking establishments have in fact hosted them 3 days a week over the year. The quality of IUM teaching and the effective public / private partnership make up all the value of this new option.
For the record, this course was born from a partnership set up in 2015 by the Department of Employment – with support from the Department of Health and Social Affairs through the Youth Employment Unit - AMAF and IUM.
