A promotional tool for Monaco’s banking sector, the www.monacoforfinance.mc website endorses the open approach to communication adopted by the authorities and professionals. Bernard Rousselot, chairman of the committee for the promotion of Monaco at AMAF (Association Monégasque des Activités Financières), explains.
Sharp rise in site traffic
Over 50,000 pageviews in under two years and a year-to-year rise in site traffic of over 33%: the figures on usage of and interest in the website, which was launched on AMAF’s initiative in September 2012, speak for themselves. The vast majority of visitors come from Western and Northern Europe, outstripping North America and Southern and Eastern Europe. Of a total of more than 12,000 visitors over the past 12 months, France and Monaco continued to top the country rankings, accounting for 59.25% of visitors, ahead of a trio of countries comprising Switzerland, the UK and Luxembourg, accounting for 19.6% of the total. It is also worth noting the increase in visitors from the US, Italy, Germany and Belgium, which represent just over 9%. These are tailed by three more remote countries, India, Canada and Brazil, representing 2.22%.
Over 70% new connections each month
This rise, and indeed this success, is largely due to repeat visitors, who account for around 30% of sessions. These are regular users who keep abreast of developments and activity in the sector. Word-of-mouth comes next, driven by targeted news topics and articles published throughout the year by the editorial committee, with input from sector partners and with professional communications support from Epi Communication group – all generating around 70% new connections every month.
New design for www.monacoforfinance.mc
As the summer gets under way and in order to capitalise on experiences and feedback, the committee for the promotion of Monaco as a financial centre has decided to revamp the website’s layout and general presentation to make it more user-friendly and efficient, by adopting a new graphic design. This revamp also involves reviewing the content in the various sections and adding content under the products and services heading.
New version in Russian
This new language version represents an opportunity to open up to the Russian-speaking market, in addition to the traditional French and English-speaking markets. By creating a Russian version of the Monaco For Finance website, the promotion committee has once again shown considerable initiative through its pragmatic approach to a linguistic situation, by addressing both the general business climate in the Principality and the neighbouring Riviera and a real need for mutual understanding.
This approach also reflects the strategy of international openness, information and transparency which AMAF, its Chairman and Head Office aimed to achieve when the website was created. Moreover, a few months away from 2015 and from the launch of the year of Russia in the Principality, professionals in the sector want to contribute to the success of this initiative by highlighting their capacity to capitalise on shared interests and the existence of well-established, long-standing relationships.
