Banque Populaire Côte d’Azur, represented by Dominique Guignard, Director of the Monegasque branch, together with the Chambre de Développement Economique and the insurer Gramaglia, organised a conference-debate on country risk on the 18th October, led by Nicolas de Buttet, Arbitrage Director at Coface.
The company directors in attendance discovered the country risk approach by business sector. Numerous macro and micro-economic analyses backed up the fundamental topic: short-term risk analysis (6 months to one year).
Coface arbitrage provides a very precise vision of a country’s economic evolution. Of course the current period is not a simple one, but several positive aspects are materialising: USA’s position is improving, Spain is showing a strong capacity to organise its exports, Turkey’s capacity to rebound has been proved, thanks, partly, to its internal growth and despite inflation. Indonesia also looks promising. Unfortunately, the Eurozone crisis is affecting emerging countries via trade channels and indirect investments, and Brazil and Argentina are seeing an increasing resort to trade protectionism. Decidedly, from customer satisfaction to risk prevention, Coface arbitrage is no easy matter.
