To maintain the quality and safety of euro banknotes, the European Central Bank and the National Central Banks of the Eurosystem started to introduce a second series of euro banknotes on May 2, 2013 (5 euro). In continuation, the Eurosystem has announced the launch of the new 10 euro banknotes for September 23, 2014.
The new banknotes will notably increase their guard against counterfeiting, making cuts in euros even safer. They will incorporate enhanced security features, using the latest technological advances in the field.
