On the initiative of the Prince's Government, an information day on the implementation of the EU's new regulation on the protection of personal data was held for representatives of the main Monegasque economic players in the private sector, representatives of the public sector, the parapublic and institutional entities.
Although it is a third country to the EU, the Principality is concerned by the provisions of this European Regulation. The GDPR is applicable, in particular, to companies established outside the EU that process the personal data of natural persons residing in the EU, with regard to the supply of goods or services by these businesses.
Monaco has incorporated data protection rules in its domestic law since 1993. In this new context, "the modernisation and adaptation of Monegasque legislation to the new European rules is one of the priorities of Government action and work is already under way in this regard."
